I
have had a longtime affinity and fascination
for the Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau
aesthetic from the late 19th and early 20th
Century. The desire of the artist-craftsperson
to maintain simplicity, beauty, and integrity
in their handcrafted works resulted in the creation
of extraordinary items that were both useful
and artistic.
I
endeavor to incorporate the same ideals to my
work. Each coaster by Fine Design Coasters is
made individually by hand. Constructed of beveled
glass, fine quality hand silk-screened papers,
acid free glues, copper, silver or brass foil,
and dense high quality cork each being beautiful,
artistic and functional.
